Banning admin:
Alanii
Type of Ban:
Temporary
Duration of ban(if temp):
2 weeks
Reason for ban:
"Planned to beat up actor premeditated with other players for no legitimate reason other than 'to beat them up.' Also appears to ignore their job (Ironhammer Commander) and not aide crewmembers when assaults took place. Simply watched it happen until they felt like intervening."
Your version of events:
The first event was stupid as hell - we just jumped the gun on EORG. I must not have made as clear as I intended but I wanted to beat up the actor after the round end but I guess we got too excited and did it RIGHT before the pod departed. I don't know if the logs show this but it was literally less than 30 seconds before the pods left.
As to the first event, I had been doing my job the entire round, had rescued multiple crewmembers from roaches, dealt with threats as they arose and cooperated with the crew time and time again. The exultant had been difficult to deal with the entire round, even going to the point of claiming that he had rigged up his death implant with de-laminating the core when he died in case we were to attack him for some reason. He walked out of the medbay, and the actor (the same one we beat up later) started attacking him and the exultant was fighting back. I asked him if he wanted help or if he wanted to deal with it himself, since it was a relatively minor fist fight and I thought it'd be better for them to work it out rather than arresting everyone (which I thought I had the discretion to do as commander). This was also happening in the medbay lobby with a doctor present so there was no risk of serious injury or death. He didn't answer and fought back against the actor, but when it got out of hand and the actor pulled out a crowbar and attacked the CE was when I intervened and arrested the actor.
Why you think you should be unbanned:
BLUF - Beating up the actor was premature EORG and the fight was me using my discretion in hopes of not having to put anyone in the brig and then intervening when things got out of hand.
The beating up the clown was just a dumb, premature EORG and I think a two week ban is kinda excessive for missing the mark for EORG by less than a minute. I admit it was not the brightest decision but we all make dumb decisions sometimes. It wasn't malicious "I wanna take this guy out of the round," especially considering I gave the actor a vastly reduced sentence for attacking the TE because I didn't want him locked up in there for 20 minutes.
The fight was a slightly bigger mistake. I used discretion in hoping the two would sort out the problem in between themselves rather than escalate so I wouldn't have to dole out any arrests and everyone could go back to what they were doing, but the actor started seriously endangering the TE so I stepped in. Perhaps I should've stepped in before but this seems like a relatively minor error to have a two week ban over.
In short, I believe a two week ban is excessive considering circumstances and that the ban should either be shorter or removed, and that the banning admin did not have the complete picture when she performed the ban as she was not able to ask me for my perspective as the ban was performed the round after this one, which I did not play.
